which console runs on smiles?
so, we've started playing through the Kingdom Hearts games (I never beat the 2nd game - no spoilers!) and a thought keeps crossing my mind.
let's pretend no Kingdom Hearts games were ever released until the Wii.
let's pretend the first KH game was on the Wii.
could.
you.
imagine.
the.
backlash!?!?
"wtf!! why did Nintendo f*** up my Square games with f***ing Mickey Mouse bullsh*t?!"
"oh yea, Haley Joel Osment, that's who I want to play as... way to go, Nintendo!
"they gave Aerith's voice to Mandy Moore!?"
"they gave SEPHIROTH's voice to LANCE BASS!?!?!?"
I just got done playing the first part of the game. it ends with Sora looking sad before embarking on his quest. but Donald informs him that this will not do because "this ship runs on smiles."
could you even imagine if this franchise debuted on the Wii?? the gaming villagers would be at Nintendo's door with torches and pitch-forks.
but somehow, in the PS2 era (not so long ago) this was acceptable. in fact, it was (and is) downright awesome!!
so what the hell happened, gamers!?
---
I absolutely shudder to think what the Cammy Dunaway photoshop jobs would look like if the line "this ship runs on smiles" debuted on the Nintendo Wii.
---
bear in mind, I friggin' love Kingdom Hearts and see nothing wrong with any of the above factoids about the game.
but it floors me to think about the double standard for the Wii in terms of gaming content.
ok, you guys discuss.....

this is why the site exists.
so we're in GameStop again this morning. just perusing the used games to see if any deals have trickled in.
having found none, we were on our way out when I see some pictures from Epic Mickey pasted on the counter-top. "wwwwait a minute" I said to Amy "I haven't seen some of these before."
so I stopped and started leafing through the pictures. the GameStop employee comes up to us. it's the same employee that asked if I had any PS3 games to pre-order when I pre-ordered Muramasa and Metroid Prime Trilogy. so she sees I'm looking at Epic Mickey and goes "yea, looks like they might make a good Wii game for once."
I just laughed to myself and said "yea... I like good Wii games."
in my head I thought "if I can go grab a dozen indisputably good Wii games off that shelf right now, will you promise to never say that again?"
but arguing with one GameStop employee will only make things worse. we can do more good here.
so, let's spread the word, and let's make some changes so this doesn't have to happen anymore.

almost moved in.
let me know if/when you come across anymore ".tk"s in any corner of the site I've forgotten.
the information that surrounds the podcasts should change as soon as iTunes refreshes on their end.
same deal with a couple little details on the new host server's end. (we should finally have a custom browser navbar icon! yay!
whew... this is a lot of effort for a little more respectability. =)

Arkia wins Bomber Tourney!
congrats to Arkia!
his obvious skill at online gaming didn't get him a badge at the N64Brawl Tourney, but today was his day!!
Mop and I tied for second and needed a one-on-one round of tie-breaker matches to get me a silver badge and Mop a highly-customized bronze.
rock on my deep comrades.
