Community's 3DS Experiences?

Anyone out there have hands-on 3DS experiences to share? Anyone been to one of the NYC 3DS promo events?

Any second-hand impressions from a friend who's played it?

I know that the GameStops near us are clearing space for the 3DS demo stations. I'm told nine to 14 days from now they should be up and running.

So, for me, I still have not witnessed the 3DS with my own eyes. Definitely looking forward to it!

Who's got stories to share?! Who's like me and currently never had access to the 3DS??

I stopped by one of our Best Buy stores today, but they didn't have the display setup yet...

I chat with some guys on another site, and one of them went to the event in San Francisco...but other than posting a video of it, he told me I had to wait for their podcast to hear his thoughts on it!

I had a chance to check out a demo kiosk at my local Best Buy yesterday. I was pretty excited, since the last time I got to preview a system before launch was with the old Mario 64 kiosks.

When I got to the system, the 3D was off; so after loading up the plane section for Pilotwings, I set the slider to 100% intensity. The screen became blurry, so I set it back to 75%. This was where I found my sweet spot to be. The 3D depth was comfortable, and I could enjoy it while playing the game. I would on occasions slide it around to see the effect, but kept coming back to 75%.

Two things about the system stuck out to me besides the 3D. One was the slide pad, which I found to be extremely comfortable. It works so naturally, that I only went to try out the d-pad just to see what it would do. I can't wait to play Starfox 64 using it. The other was the visuals. Pilotwings Resort looks beautiful, especially during the evening settings.

I wanted to be able to check out the 3DS's menus, but the system was locked into Pilotwings. I was able to try all three vehicles for it, and found them all to be unique experiences. Of them all, the plane was my favorite, but it's also the most familiar.

Overall, I'm very pleased with how the 3DS performed. I had a headache afterward, but it's not going to deter me from picking it up on launch day.
